Deadline Set for Harrisburg Diocese Clergy Abuse Claims
May 19, 2020: Bankruptcy Judge Sets November 13, 2020 Deadline for Harrisburg Diocese Clergy Abuse Claims.
In an order signed by Chief Bankruptcy Judge Henry Van Eck, survivors of sexual abuse by clergy in the Harrisburg Diocese have until November 13, 2020 to file a claim.
Anyone with a claim involving “any actual or alleged sexual offense” by its clergy, teachers, employees, or volunteers must submit a claims form by that time regardless of whether the Statute of Limitations had previously expired.
Harrisburg is the first diocese in Pennsylvania to seek bankruptcy protection.
Regardless of when the sexual abuse took place, survivors should contact Dan Monahan immediately to discuss filing a timely claim.
