August 2020: The Philadelphia Inquirer features Dan Monahan in its Investigative Report on Devereux Foundation

At the conclusion of a months long investigation of the numerous incidents of sexual assault of residents of Devereux by staff members across the country and in various locations in the Philadelphia area, two investigative journalists, Barbara Laker and Lisa Gartner produced a comprehensive report of the failures of the Devereux Foundation to protect the residents of their mental health facilities.

One incident highlighted in the article was the case of C’Kenya Tanksley who was groomed and sexually assaulted on numerous occasions of Everol Brackett, one of her residential supervisors.  Brackett is currently in prison as a result of his conviction stemming from those assaults.

 Interestingly, in a subsequent lawsuit filed in Philadelphia, the case of Tanksley v. Brackett and Devereux is cited as one of the many incidents of sexual assaults against Devereux residents, many of whom are vulnerable children and challenged individuals.
